Eva Chen, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder

Since its inception in 1988, Eva Chen has spearheaded Trend Micro’s emergence as one of the world’s most innovative Internet content security companies.

Before becoming CEO, Eva served as executive vice president from 1988-1996 and CTO from 1996-2004. Under her direction, Trend Micro has produced a chronology of industry firsts, from unique products to security management approaches. As a result of her innovative leadership, she was appointed CEO in late 2004.

Of her many accolades and accomplishments, a few of the most prominent:

  • Named one of the 50 most powerful people in networking, Network World, 2004
  • Named one of the top five "Women of Vision", Information Security, 2003
  • Received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Secure Computing, 2001

Eva holds a master's degree in business administration as well as a master's degree in management information systems from the University of Texas. She earned a degree in philosophy from Chen Chi University in Taipei.

 

Steve Chang, Chairman and Founder

In 1988, Steve Chang founded Trend Micro to develop antivirus software. He served as CEO until 2004 and currently serves as chairman of the board.

Under his leadership, Trend Micro grew to over 2000 employees with operations in more than 30 countries. From 1994 to 2003, revenues increased from US$10M to US$454.

Steve has been recognized by numerous publications including:

  • Named one of Asia's "25 Movers and Shakers" in 2001 by ZDNet Asia
  • Called a “global force” by Fortune Magazine
  • Twice chosen for Business Week's "Stars of Asia" award
  • Named "Innovator of the Year" in 2004 by Asia Business Leader Awards.

Prior to launching Trend Micro, Steve worked at Hewlett-Packard as an engineer and then founded AsiaTek, Inc., a Taiwan-based UNIX software design company.

Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Fu-Jen Catholic University and a master's degree in computer science from Lehigh University.

 

Jenny Chang, Chief Culture Officer and Co-founder

Jenny Chang co-founded Trend Micro with her husband, Steve Chang, in 1988. In her role as chief culture officer, she is in charge of promoting and maintaining Trend Micro’s core values and open-minded transnational culture.

In 2008, Jenny launched the Trend Micro Global Citizen Programs, a series of projects for Trend Micro employees that encourage social responsibility:

  • Matching fund donation program
  • Home building projects in the Philippines
  • Internet Safety for Kids and Family initiative

In 1988, Jenny became Trend Micro's first U.S. marketing director. She oversaw the campaigns that made Virus Buster (PC-cillin) Japan's number one antivirus desktop product, capturing more than 70 percent of the desktop antivirus market

Prior to founding Trend Micro, Jenny worked in marketing at Hewlett-Packard Taiwan, was chief editor of Common Wealth Publishing, and was the marketing director of AsiaTek Computer.

Jenny graduated from National Taiwan University and Lehigh University where she majored in information science.

 

Carol Carpenter, Executive General Manager, Volume Customer Business Unit

Carol Carpenter is the executive general manager for the Consumer and Small Business units at Trend Micro, Inc. where she is responsible for delivering innovative security products and services to protect the information of consumers and small businesses. She and her team lead and implement global product strategy, operations, marketing, and channel strategy and alliances. In her previous role at Trend Micro, she led global marketing, product strategy and alliances for the Consumer business, achieving double digit growth rates for three consecutive years.

Prior to Trend Micro, Carol has held senior positions at consumer and infrastructure-focused technology companies. With over 20 years of product management, marketing and finance experience related to software products and services, she has led marketing and product management teams at Keynote Systems, Enviz, Tumbleweed Communications, and Apple Computer. Carol holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

 

Mitchel Chang, SVP of Global Technical Support

As senior vice president of global technical support and site executive at TrendLabs in the Philippines, Mitchel Chang oversees Trend Micro’s technical support across the globe.

Mitchel has led Trend Micro’s technical support teams to international recognition, winning awards such as the Service and Support Professionals Association (SSPA) Star Award.

Prior to Trend Micro, Mitchel was the vice president of worldwide technical support and services at Resilience Corporation. He also held management positions at RSA Security, Cadence Design Systems, and Texas Instruments.

Mitchel holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Dallas and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.

 

Oscar Chang, Chief Development Officer/ Executive Vice President of Greater China Sales

As chief development officer of global research and development and executive vice president of greater china sales for Trend Micro, Oscar Chang is responsible for leading more than 1000 engineers to ensure Trend Micro’s continued success as a research and development leader.

Since joining Trend Micro in 1993, Oscar established the R&D team in Japan and spearheaded the development of numerous flagship products, including PC-cillin.

Previously, Oscar worked at Diamond Ware Corporation. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and information engineering from the National Taiwan University.

 

Max Cheng, Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy Planning

As executive vice president for corporate strategy planning, Max Cheng is responsible for overseeing the data leakage prevention emerging business unit.

Max has held several executive positions at Trend Micro. He managed TrendLabsSM, Trend Micro’s global research and support headquarters based in Manila. Under his leadership, TrendLabs became one of the world’s leading antivirus research and product support services. He has also served as Trend Micro's CIO, head of the global sales engineering, antivirus research and global technical support groups, and general manager of the enterprise business unit.

Max holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.

 

Raimund Genes, Chief Technology Officer

Raimund Genes brings more than 30 years of computer and network security experience to his position of Chief Technology Officer at Trend Micro. In this role, Mr. Genes is responsible for introducing new methods to detect and eradicate threats. He is responsible for a team of developers and researchers around the globe who research and develop new core technology components to protect against email, Web and file-based threats under the Smart Protection Network umbrella.

Raimund has held several executive management positions within Trend Micro including General Manager for Trend Micro’s Incubation Business, President of European Operations; European Vice President of Sales and Marketing; and Managing Director.

Raimund worked in the German air force for 12 years in radar guidance and aircraft tracking and holds a master of science in radar guidance from the German Air Force Academy. He is also a Certified Network Engineer.

 

Cliff Liang, Vice President of Research

As vice president of research, Cliff Liang is responsible for managing advanced technology research, exploring new products and services, building and promoting technical career tracks for engineers, and supervising advanced research on performance acceleration hardware.

Cliff joined Trend Micro in 1990 as a software engineer. Since then, he has held many leadership positions including US engineering head, vice president of architecture, and vice president of research.

Prior to Trend Micro, Cliff was head of engineering at AsiaTek, Inc., a Taiwan-based UNIX software design company.

Cliff holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Tatung Institute of Technology in Taipei.

 

Connie Ma, SVP of Global Human Resources

As senior vice president of global human resources at Trend Micro, Connie Ma is responsible for leading the company’s efforts in creating a collaborative work environment that builds employee engagement and inspires customer-centric innovation.

Since joining Trend Micro in 2002, Connie has built up the global human resources team and successfully implemented numerous initiatives to develop employees worldwide.

Connie has over 25 years of HR experience. Prior to joining Trend Micro, she held several senior HR managerial positions at Applied Biosystems, NCR Corporation and AT&T Corporation.

Connie holds an EMBA from Taiwan University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Soochow University.

 

John Maddison, VP Core Technology, Alliances and Service Provider Business Unit

As vice president of Core Technology, Alliances and the Service Provider Business Unit, John Maddison is responsible for product management of all core technology solutions including web, email and file reputation as well as traditional antivirus. He leads a corporate alliances team which collaborates with Trends key business partners. He is also responsible for business profitability and the global operations of Trend Micro’s Service Provider business.

Before John was promoted to his current position in 2007, he held several positions at Trend Micro including General Manager of Trend’s Software as a Service (SasS) division and before that senior director of product management for the gateway and client service products.

Prior to joining Trend Micro, he was senior director of product management at Vina Technologies focused on the Telecommunications market. He has also held director of product management positions at Lucent Technologies and Octel Communications in Europe, Asia and North America for Service Provider, Enterprise and Wireless products.

 

Thomas Miller, Executive VP and General Manager, Enterprise and Mid Market Business Unit

As executive vice president and general manager for the mid-market and enterprise business units at Trend Micro, Thomas Miller is responsible for driving strategy, business profitability, global operations, and solutions designed specifically to meet the needs of medium and large organizations.

As the former vice president of Trend Micro’s North American Sales, Thomas spearheaded eight consecutive quarters of growth and record performance.

Previously, Thomas led regional activity for e-commerce start up Voxeo. Miller has also held positions in sales and sales management at ActivCard, Infonet, and MCI.

Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and business law from Syracuse University with international study at the Syracuse London Center.

 

Punit Minocha, VP Corporate Development and Software-as-a-Service

As vice president of corporate business development, Punit Minocha is responsible for mergers and acquisitions for the Company. As vice president of SaaS, he is responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction for Trend’s SaaS solutions as well as Identity-based Data Protection solutions.

Punit has been with Trend since 2002 and has held numerous roles including Strategic Alliances and driving Incubation businesses for the company where he was chartered with cultivating a steady stream of new businesses for the company.

Prior to joining Trend Micro, Punit was director of business development at Nexsi, an Internet security company. Before that, Punit spent over 8 years at Intel in various roles including Product Management, Product Marketing, Business development and product development.

Punit holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, a master’s degree in business administration from the Hass School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire.

 

Gustavo Moroni, Regional VP, Sales and Marketing Latin America

As vice president of sales and marketing for Trend Micro, Latin America, Gustavo Moroni is responsible for overseeing all sales and marketing efforts for Trend Micro in Latin America and developing a strong team that can drive sustained growth in revenue and product expertise.

Prior to joining Trend Micro, Gustavo distributed Trend Micro products. In 1996, Gustavo founded Trend Argentina, a distributor of Trend Micro products. Gustavo has been with Trend Micro since 1997 and was promoted to his current position in 2001.

Gustavo began his career teaching mathematics at the University of Buenos Aires and working as a sales specialist for IBM.

 

Mahendra Negi, Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer

As CFO, COO, and member of the board of directors, Mahendra Negi is responsible for global technical support, IT, finance and legal functions.

Mahendra has been recognized by leading business publications including:

  • Ranked No. 1 Internet Analyst in Japan by Institutional Investor magazine

  • Ranked No. 2 Software Analyst by both Institutional Investor and the Nikkei Shimbun, Japan's top business newspaper
Prior to joining Trend Micro in May 2000, Mahendra worked at Merrill Lynch, specializing in Japan's Internet and software industries.

He holds a master's degree in physics from Nagpur University in India and a master's degree in management from the London Business School.

 

Akihiko Omikawa, Executive Vice President, General Manager Japan Region, Global Consumer Business Unit, Global Service Business Unit

As executive vice president and general manager, Japan, Akihiko Omikawa, is responsible for driving and growing consumer broadband and carrier/ISP markets and developing integrated solutions for corporate, government, and educational markets.

Akihiko began his career as a sales manager at Japan Digital Equipment Corporation (now Hewlett-Packard). In 1992, he joined Microsoft, Japan, where he held a number of leadership positions including director of sales, director of enterprise business operations, general business managing director, and executive board member. He joined Trend Micro in February 2003.

Akihiko graduated from Japan's Nihon University, College of Commerce, in 1982, from the department of business administration.

 

Susan Orbuch, SVP of Corporate Marketing

As senior vice president of corporate marketing, Susan Orbuch is responsible for marketing, branding and research, and analyst/public relations worldwide.

Susan has been a force at Trend Micro for over ten years, heading up North American analyst and public relations, acting as global director of communications, and managing global, cross-functional projects for the CEO.

Prior to joining Trend Micro, Susan worked as an urban planning, design, communications and management consultant and a natural resource preservation planner.

Susan holds a master’s degree in city planning from MIT and a bachelor’s degree in conservation and resource studies from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Steve Quane, Executive General Manager, Data Center Business Unit

As executive general manager of the Data Center Business Unit, Steve Quane is responsible for the business profitability, global operations and strategy of Trend Micro’s Data Center Business Unit. In addition, Quane is responsible for Trend Micro’s Software as a Service platform as well as Corporate Business Development. Prior to his role as executive general manager of the Data Center business, Quane was executive general manager of the SMB Business Unit.

Steve has been with Trend Micro since 2001, and was pivotal to the introduction of Trend Micro’s breakthrough Enterprise Protection Strategy which changed the security marketplace.

Prior to joining Trend Micro, Quane held product management and business development roles at Intel Corporation.

Quane holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy.
