Virus patterns

Trend Micro provides users the capability to detect and clean systems infected by known malware.

When a malware is reported, TrendLabs (Trend Micro's global network of antivirus research and product support centers) immediately update the pattern, and releases an OPR or CPR. The virus scan pattern and virus scan engine work hand in hand to enable Trend Micro products to detect latest known malware. To know the lowest pattern version that could detect all samples of a specific malware, check out the pattern file needed specified on the Virus Encyclopedia page.

For malware that are likely to spread, the Virus cleanup template is also updated to enable infected systems to be automatically cleaned by Trend Micro products.

Scan Pattern Files

Control Pattern Release (CPR)

The Control Pattern Release is a pre-release version of the Trend Micro malware protection database. It is a fully tested, manually downloadable scan pattern file, and serves as an emergency patch during a malware threat or outbreak.

Official Pattern Release (OPR)

The Official Pattern Release (OPR) is the latest Trend Micro compilation of scan patterns for identified malware. It is guaranteed to have passed a series of critical tests to ensure that systems are accurately scanned for malicious files and applications.

Cleanup Template Files

Damage Cleanup Template / Engine

The Damage Cleanup Template / Engine is the automated cleanup component of Trend Micro antivirus products. Trend Micro antivirus provides automated cleanup for certain malware via this template and engine package, which is initiated upon detection.

The Damage Cleanup Template / Engine can also be used as a standalone cleanup package.
