Vulnerabilities

What are Vulnerabilities?

Many threats begin with a simple software vulnerability. Vulnerabilities are flaws or weaknesses found in software applications, operating systems, and web pages and applications that compromise the security of your PC. New vulnerabilities are reported weekly in all sorts of applications, from Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mac OS to Adobe Flash Player and Yahoo! widgets.

When cybercriminals exploit vulnerabilities, you could run malicious code just by accessing a web page with a flawed browser or opening a file with the affected application.
Software vendors address these flaws by releasing patches. It is up to users to keep their PC installations permanently up-to-date so that they are not vulnerable to these attacks.

Why should you care?

Vulnerabilities can compromise your network security, putting personal and confidential information at risk.
